India’s Record in T20 World Cup Semi-finals and Finals

Team India records in the semifinals in the T20 World Cup against England and Australia and other teams.

This was the fifth semi-final of the Indian team in the T20 World Cup. Earlier, out of four semi-finals, Team India had won two and lost two. India faced defeat in the last two T20 World Cup semi-finals against West Indies in 2016 and against England in 2022. Team India batted first in both these semi-final matches. However, the Windies in 2016 and England in 2022 chased it easily. Apart from this, the Indian team managed to win the semi-final match in 2007 and 2014.

In 2007, India won the toss and batted first against Australia, while in 2014 India lost the toss and Team India batted later. Now India has won the T20 World Cup 2024 also by batting first. India lost five matches in ICC tournaments from 2021 to 2023 and batted first in all of them. These include the match against Pakistan in the 2021 T20 World Cup, the 2021 World Test Championship final, the 2022 T20 World Cup semi-final, the 2023 World Test Championship final and the 2023 ODI World Cup final.

England’s record in T20 World Cup semi-finals

At the same time, England has played five T20 World Cup semi-final matches. Out of these, they have batted later four times and batted first once. England had won 100 percent of the matches i.e. all three matches while chasing three times in the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup before 2024. However, this time their bet backfired and they had to face defeat from India. Out of the three matches they won, they were successful in winning the trophy twice. England won the match against Sri Lanka while chasing in the semi-finals of the 2010 T20 World Cup, against England while chasing in 2016, and against India while chasing in 2022. At the same time, in the semi-finals of the 2021 T20 World Cup, England batted first against New Zealand and lost. The team became champions in 2010 and 2022.

In this rain-interrupted match, after losing the toss and batting first, the Indian team gave a target of 172 runs. In response, the England team scored 103 runs in 16.4 overs…

The Indian spin bowlers did not give the British any chance. Harry Brook scored 25, captain Jos Buttler scored 23, Jofra Archer scored 21 and Liam Livingstone scored 11 runs. Apart from these, no batsman could touch the double-digit mark. On the other hand, spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel took 3-3 wickets. Jasprit Bumrah got 2 successes.
