Authorities have lifted a tsunami advisory after a 50cm wave struck Hachijojima Island, located south of Tokyo, following an offshore earthquake. The advisory, initially issued as a precaution, was rescinded after it became clear that the wave posed no significant threat to coastal areas.
Local authorities confirmed that no damage or injuries were reported as a result of the tsunami Advisory. Residents were temporarily advised to stay away from coastal areas, but normal activities resumed once the advisory was lifted. The island, a popular spot for tourists, remained largely unaffected by the event.
Despite the minimal impact of this event, experts continue to stress the importance of preparedness for coastal communities, as Japan frequently experiences seismic activity. Local authorities have once again emphasized the need for vigilance and quick response to future tsunami warnings.
